First Shows of the Exhibition
After the opening of the exhibition Mapping Cultures in Kota in October 2023, Elizabeth Simson's photographs of rural Rajasthan and Gujarat were shown at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur on the 6th of February, 2024.
The exhibition then moved to the village of Borunda (Dist. Jodhpur) where Elizabeth had been based each winter in the 1980's and the 1990's. Thanks are due to Mahendra Detha and Shri Sabai Mahila Shikshan Sansthan for hosting it.

Some of the artisans in the photographs on display in the exhibition were able to visit on Friday 9th February, 2024, like this dyer who spotted his younger self.

The potter's grandchildren, who are still potters, were keen to show the photograph to their grandfather and went to fetch him.

A selection of Elizabeth's photographs has been in the Arna Jharna Desert Museum near Jodhpur in March and April 2024 by invitation of Kuldeep Kothari. The full collection will be at the Indian Institute of Craft and Design (IICD) in Jaipur from 1st to 30th September, 2024. From IICD it will be going to Khamir near Bhuj in Gujarat. The exhibition at Khamir will be open from 11th November to 12th December, 2024. It will be at the Satya Art Gallery, Navjivan Trust, Ahmedabad in the spring of 2025 on dates to be announced.
